Awkwafina

American actor and musician Awkwafina made her debut with humorous hip-hop tracks that addressed sexuality and racial identities with a an incisive and humorous perspective, before broadening her reach to Hollywood. Nora Lum was born to Chinese-Korean immigrants who resided in Forest Hills Queens. Her first experience with music came through the instrument of trumpet. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop training began as she was in her teens. In the college years, she remained focused on her studies. She took up a degree in women's studies and journalism. For a brief period during her time in Beijing, Mandarin language classes were also offered. Following graduation, she decided to focus on music. The year 2012 saw My Vag (as a retort to Mickey Avalon's My Dick) became an internet sensation and featured in her debut album Yellow Ranger. The other viral hit songs included queef, a body positive track and the eye-catching NYC Bitchecity tour. The track that was second on the album linked to Awkwafina's NYC Travel Guide, published in 2015. This was another initiative. Alongside having a book published as well, she also worked as a performer. She has appeared in films including Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap. In the year 2018 she scored a number of breakthrough roles, such as Dude Ocean's Eight or Crazy Rich Asians. In June, she debuted her debut film, In Fina We Trust.
